K-Drama started me down the path to K-Pop, and now I'm hooked. It started when I heard "A Butterfly Flew Away" by Kim Min-seok, the main theme in "You Are My Spring". At the time I thought to myself, this might be the most beautiful song I've ever heard. Even without understanding the words I could feel the emotion of it.
Now I'm completely onboard the K-Pop bandwagon. I still don't understand most of the words, though I've picked up a little bit. The Korean top 25 playlist on Apple Music keeps me up to date with new stuff, and I keep finding more artists I like as I watch more dramas. Aespa is my current favorite. Stray Kids regularly keep me alert on my afternoon commute. The pop music is full of so much energy, and the love songs bring so much emotion, it's irresistible to me. It's a long way from the grunge music I loved in my 20's.
I still like grunge, FYI.
